HAITI / ARCHSHARING COMPETITION

In an environment without previous references and with a tropical climate, the rural school for the TWA community is set up, understanding this as the possibility of projecting a building for a community in need of shelter.

We propose two buildings separated and connected by an atrium, generating a space full of potential in terms of meeting, communication, exchange. Including the typical school situations: main access, central yard, classrooms zone and humid zone -bathrooms and kitchen-. The correct orientation and ventilation to ensure quality in all its spaces, a gable roof to protect against heavy rains, a direct relationship with the natural environment and the possibility of carrying out the scholastic tasks in a diffuse limit between interior and exterior.

For its execution we established a unique economic module of structural frames and a catalogue of sidings according to the programmatic needs. This makes etapability independent in all its aspects, allowing the building extension be independent of their enclosure. The elevated platform and the eaves provide essential insulation. Furthermore, the building is prepared to be provided with photovoltaic panel systems, solar water heater and rainwater recovery tanks.

We think the the school, not only as a center of instruction, but also as a reference point in its community.
